Darley stallion Singspiel has experienced fertility problems since the commencement of the 2010 breeding season that are thought to be linked to a brief illness he suffered in January, according to a release from the farm. Since that time Singspiel has enjoyed good health.
Singspiel, an Irish-bred son of In the Wings, stands for 15,000 pounds (about $22,500 USD) at Darley’s Dalham Hall Stud near Newmarket, Suffolk, England. An international group I winner, Singspiel was a champion in the United States in 1996, a champion in Dubai in 1997, and was named the latter country’s leading sire in 2003.
According to the release, Darley hopes Singspiel’s fall in fertility is temporary, so he remains covering a reduced book of mares and will continue to be assessed as the breeding season progresses.
