Select Stable's Repent, who won four graded stakes, has been retired from racing because of problems associated with an injured tendon. The 4-year-old son of Preakness Stakes (gr. I) winner Louis Quatorze is with trainer Kenny McPeek in Florida.

Repent, who had not run since the Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) in September, was one of the top 3-year-olds earlier last year for Feye Bach's Select Stable. At Fair Grounds, he won the Risen Star Stakes (gr. III) and Louisiana Derby (gr. II) and was voted the meet's top 3-year-old male. He missed the classics after McPeek discovered a chip on Repent's left front ankle following a runner-up effort in the Illinois Derby (gr. II) to War Emblem.

Repent returned to racing in the Travers Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga and ran second to Medaglia d'Oro. A month later, he finished seventh in the Jockey Club Gold Cup. It was in that race that McPeek believes that Repent injured the tendon. He was taken out of consideration for the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I).

Repent, who resumed training at Gulfstream Park, retires with five wins and four placings from 10 starts and earnings of $1,255,660. Bred by Taylor Made Farm, Repent (Louis Quatorze -- Baby Grace, by Cipayo) is a half-brother to two stakes winners, including Canadian champion King Ruckus. Bach and her husband, Jerry, have not determined where to stand Repent.
