Lookin At Lucky and Sidney's Candy, two leading contenders for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), arrived at Churchill Downs at about 5:45 p.m. (EST) on April 13 to prepare for the May 1 classic.
Lookin At Lucky, the 2-year-old champion of 2009, and Sidney’s Candy, winner of the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I), were vanned to the track following a cross-country flight from Ontario, California, to Louisville. Lookin At Lucky was accompanied by Bob Baffert-trained stablemate Conveyance , the multiple grade III winner who is also being pointed toward the Derby.
Assistant trainer Jim Barnes said both horses will go to the track Wednesday, April 14, and that Baffert is due in Louisville April 15 to oversee their Derby preparations.
John Sadler-trained Sidney’s Candy was vanned to Barn 42, where Arkansas Derby (gr. I) winner Line of David is already settled in. Sidney’s Candy was accompanied on the van by Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I) winner Crisp, who is being pointed toward the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I).
