The steady rain that deluged Louisville since Saturday, April 24, has moved out of the area, but the respite will not last over next weekend. There is a 40% chance of rain, with thunderstorms possible, for Saturday, May 1, when the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) will be run at Churchill Downs.

According to Weather.com, nearly two inches of rain fell over the weekend and after a brief break Monday the precipitation continued to fall on the morning of Tuesday. April 27.

After overnight low temperatures in the low 40s overnight April 27, the forecast is for sun and a high of 69 Wednesday. A mix of sun and clouds and high in the upper 70s is predicted for Thursday, April 29. The best weather of the week is possible Friday, April 30, with sun, some clouds, highs in the low 80s.

Saturday’s high temperature will be in the low 80s.
