Contender, a bay gelding who has won two races, brought the top price of 25,000 Australian dollars (approximately $14,968 in U.S. funds) Friday during William Inglis & Son summer Thoroughbred mixed sale at Newmarket in Australia. Peter Balzen bought the New Zealand-bred son of Danzero.
The 141 horses sold grossed 351,950 Australian dollars ($210,712) and averaged 2,496 Australian dollars ($1,494).
