Leslie Named President of OHRIA

The Ontario Horse Racing Industry Association announced that Sue Leslie, its chairman, will assume the duties of the departing president Hector Clouthier.

"Sue is and will continue to be a great asset to OHRIA as president and chair,” said Hugh Mitchell, chief executive officer of the Western Fair Association and OHRIA board member, in a release.

“Sue is extremely passionate about the racing industry, a great listener who is highly principled, and she possesses the leadership skills needed for the job.”

Leslie, who has been around horses all her life, has held the position of chair with OHRIA over the past year.

“I am a big believer in OHRIA and its role as the voice to government and regulators,” said Leslie, a native of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. “My main goal is to keep the industry going forward by building communication and cooperation amongst all sectors of the racing industry.”
Leslie is a prominent fixture on the Canadian horse racing scene, as the president of the local chapter of the Horsemen’s Benevolent Protective Association. She also serves on the board of the LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society, as well as the Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium, and is steward of the Jockey Club of Canada, along with her career as a Thoroughbred trainer and owner.
