Steeplechase racing returns to central Pennsylvania on Friday night, June 18, at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.
A steeplechase was held last summer and was so popular it was asked to return, according to a release from the track. As a result, Bill Gallo, racing secretary for the National Steeplechase Association, placed two dates on this year’s Penn National calendar.

Both races on this week’s card will be run at a distance of 2 1/16 miles over the hurdles. One race will be a $25,000 maiden special weight event. The second race is an allowances/optional claiming contest with a $30,000 purse.
