Keeneland will offer its largest catalogue ever for its April sale of 2-year-olds in training, with 262 horses listed. The number is up by 5.2% from last year's total of 249. The previous record high was 253 in 1994.

The auction is scheduled for April 15 in Lexington.

"If it all holds together, we should have a bang-up sale," said Tom Thornbury, Keeneland's associate director of sales. "We have a large number of outstanding individuals this year. We didn't have a lot of cross-entries (with other sales) this year. Consignors are starting to point for this sale because horses can work on the grass and because you have more time to prepare them."

Last year, sale records were established for average price ($174,015) and median price ($127,500). The buy-back rate (42.7%) also was the auction's highest ever. The 102 horses sold grossed $17,749,500.
