A reception in honor of equine artist Andre Pater and auction to benefit the Race for Education will be held Sept. 30 at the Lexington Country Club in Lexington.
Among those scheduled to attend the event, which will be held when the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games are being conducted at the Kentucky Horse Park, are 2003 WEG gold medalist Tom McCutcheon, World Coaching Club president Misdee Wrigley Miller, ASPCA Maclay National Championship and ASHA/Medal Championship winner Nicole Shahinian Simpson, and USDF gold medalist Reese Koffler-Stanfield.
Among the items to be auctioned live will be four original Andre Pater paintings depicting different events that will be part of the 2010 WEG, and a Rolex watch donated by Sheila Bayes Fine Jewelers. There will also be a silent auction and music provided by the University of Kentucky symphony orchestra.
Cost of the reception and auction, presented by Horse Illustrated, Young Rider, and Thoroughbred Times, is $250 individually, $400 per couple, and $1,500 for a table for eight.
Also, 500 signed and numbered limited edition prints of each painting will be available as a gift with a minimum contribution of $100 to the Race For Education. According to RFE, proceeds from the sale of the prints will benefit scholarships for equestrian athletes, to be distributed by a partnership between RFE and the USEF North American Young Rider Program in 2011.
