The Television Games Network (TVG) increased its handle from 2001 to 2002 by 251%, the network announced Wednesday in releasing its final handle numbers for 2002.

TVG ended 2002 with over 44,000 total wagering subscribers, a 219% increase over 2001, and over $159 million in total handle. Much of that growth was attributable to the inception of Advanced Deposit Wagering in California.

TVG and its licensee, Youbet.com, processed 81% of the $152,062,376 wagered by California residents for the year.

With its unique source-market fee policy, which returns nearly 70% of wagering revenue, on average, to the racing industry, TVG was able to generate $22 million for purses and its track partners in 2002.
