Charles Fipke’s Seeking the Title will seek her second graded-stakes victory when she takes on six other 3-year-old fillies in the $200,000 Indiana Oaks (gr. II) at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino Oct. 2.
Seeking the Title, trained by Dallas Stewart and to be ridden by Robby Albarado, finished second behind No Such Word in the Monmouth Oaks (gr. II) at Monmouth Park in her last start Aug. 14. She has worked steadily at Saratoga and Churchill Downs in advance of the Indiana Oaks.
Previously, Seeking the Title finished fifth in the grade I Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga, and before that won the Iowa Oaks (gr. III) at Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino. In May, the filly was among the favorites in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes (gr. II) at Pimlico Race Course but lost her jockey in an incident involving another horse on the backstretch.
Seeking the Title, by Seeking the Gold out of the Monarchos mare Title Seeker, is the 121-pound co-highweight in the Indiana Oaks along with Gem Inc.’s Harissa, who finished a half-length behind her in the Iowa Oaks and in her last start won an allowance test at Monmouth.
Harissa, trained by Mike Hushion, will be ridden by Carlos Marquez Jr.
Bob Baffert, who will saddle favored Lookin At Lucky in the $500,000 Indiana Derby (gr. II) later on the Oct. 2 program, entered Arnold Zetcher’s Always a Princess in the Oaks. The filly comes off an allowance victory at Del Mar, and last year as a 2-year-old finished second behind Blind Luck in the Oak Leaf Stakes (gr. I) and fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I).
The Oaks is the 11th race on a 14-race card that begins at 12:35 p.m. EDT.
