The Ocala Breeders' Sales Company has catalogued 503 horses for its March select sale of 2-year-olds in training in Central Florida. The number represents a 23.6% increase over last year's total of 407.
"This sale has progressed quite a bit, and some of consignors are choosing to stay at home (and not sell in South Florida)," said Tom Ventura, the OBS general manager and director of sales. "They feel comfortable with selling any level of horse here (in Ocala), and this sale gives them more time to prepare their horses than our Miami sale does."
The March sale will be conducted March 18 and 19. Under tack shows will be held on March 8, 9, 15, and 16.
The second annual Adena Springs sale of 2-year-olds in training will be conducted by OBS on March 20 at Frank Stronach's Adena Springs South near Ocala. The catalogue has 88 horses, and there will be pre-set published reserves.
Catalogues for the OBS March and Adena Springs sale can be found on the OBS Web site (www.obssales.com).
