Elnadim, Intidab, Shawaf to Shadwell
English champion Elnadim, grade II winner Intidab, and 6-year-old Shawaf will enter stud in 2001 at Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Farm near Lexington. All three were bred in Kentucky and raced as Shadwell homebreds.Six-year-old Elnadim, who will stand for $15,000, was an English champion sprinter two consecutive years. His big win came in the Darley July Cup (Eng-I), and he also captured the Racal Diadem (Eng-II) and Hopeful Stakes and was twice group stakes-placed. On Oct. 15 at Keeneland, he ran third in the Nureyev Stakes. He has five wins from 16 starts and earnings of $322,449.A son of Danzig, Elnadim is a full brother to English stakes winner Ashraakat and a half-brother to Irish champion and classic winner Mehthaaf. His group stakes-winning dam, Elle Seule (by Exclusive Native), is one of nine stakes winners produced from Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Fall Aspen (by Pretense).Intidab, whose fee is $12,500, cracked a sesamoid in his left hind leg after working a half-mile at Belmont Park on Oct. 12. The injury will not require surgery, and will heal on its own, said Shadwell manager Rick Nichols.Intidab, who was being pointed for the Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I), was stakes-placed five times in Dubai, but hit his best stride following his return to North America in 1999. He won the True North (gr. II) and A Phenomenon (gr. II) Handicaps, plus the Eillo Stakes, and placed in the Forego (gr. II), A. G. Vanderbilt (gr. II), and Forest Hills (gr. II) Handicaps. Seven-year-old Intidab (Phone Trick -- Alqwani, by Mr. Prospector) won seven of 36 races and earned $531,221.Shawaf, a 6-year-old son of Mr. Prospector, was plagued by injuries. He lost an eye as a 4-year-old, and managed to win only two of 13 races and earn $63,285. He is a half-brother to English group winner Bint Shadayid, and their dam, Shadayid (by Shadeed), was a champion in England and France. His fee is $5,000.
