Ted O’Neill, who owned Ann Marie Farm near Paris, Ky., with his wife, Noreen, died Oct. 3 in San Francisco after battling a respiratory disease. He was 81.
O’Neill, who grew up on a farm in his native Ireland, became a successful builder and developer in San Francisco. He attended the races at Bay Meadows and Golden Gate Fields and eventually started buying and breeding racehorses. Among the stakes winners bred and/or raced in the name Ann Marie Farm were homebreds North Beach and Kilgowan, who won the 2004 El Camino Real Derby (gr. III).
O’Neill survivors include Noreen, his wife of 46 years; a daughter, Sheila; and grandsons Ryan and Sean.
