Barretts has catalogued 208 horses for its March select sale of 2-year-olds in training. The total represents a 24.6% increase from 2002, when 167 horses were listed.

This year's auction will be conducted on March 4 at the Hinds Pavilion at Fairplex Park in Pomona, Calif.

In 2002, 73 horses were sold for a gross of $10,950,000, an average of $150,000, and a median of $90,000. The gross and average were up by 8.6% and 5.6%, respectively, from 2001, and the median soared by 28.6%. A world record was established for a filly sold at an auction of 2-year-olds in training when Atlantic Ocean (by Stormy Atlantic) brought $1.9 million.
