Heritage of Gold drew the rail and was installed as the 4-5 morning-line favorite for the $543,000-added Three Chimneys Spinster Stakes (gr. I) Saturday at Keeneland. The seven-horse field also includes Plenty of Light, Roza Robata, Spain, and Ruby Surprise.
"It will be a great race," said Tom Amoss, who trains Heritage of Gold. "Anytime you have a grade I race, you're going to have some good horses. We are ready. I just hope she has some racing luck and runs her race. That's all you can do at this point."
In her most recent race, Plenty of Light finished a very game second in the Gazelle Handicap (gr. I). In that race, she set a brisk pace, was collared in the stretch by eventual winner Critical Eye, and was still able to edge into the winner's margin in deep stretch. Garrett Gomez will ride the Elliott Walden-trained daughter of Colony Light, who has four wins from six career races and earnings of $173,450.
The field for the 1 1/8-mile Spinster will consist of:
1--Heritage of Gold, Shane Sellers, 4-5
2--Roza Robata, Robby Albarado, 8-1
3--Spain, Calvin Borel, 4-1
4--Tutorial, Marlon St. Julien, 30-1
5--Undermine, Larry Melancon, 15-1
6--Ruby Surprise, Joe Judice, 10-1
7--Plenty of Light, Garrett Gomez, 7-2
