Duchossois Honored Locally for Hosting Breeders' Cup

According to a report in the Daily Herald, Arlington Park chairman Richard Duchossois was honored as Arlington Heights' "Business Leader of the Year" Thursday night for his role in hosting the 2002 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships.

The award was one of four given at the chamber's 56th annual Installation and Recognition Celebration held at the European Crystal Banquet Center in Arlington Heights.

Village President Arlene Muldner thanked Duchossois on behalf of Arlington Heights for his work with the Breeders' Cup saying the event brought recognition not only to the village but the entire region. She also spoke of Duchossois' dedication to horse racing, and his generosity to the community and local charities.

Duchossois stressed that the success of the famed sporting event was made possible by employees of Arlington Park, village leaders, and the community .

Duchossois was given a framed Breeders' Cup poster signed by state and Chicago leaders.
