For the first time in its 39-year history, Evangeline Downs will conduct a 2-year-olds in-training sale on March 16. As an incentive to breeders and owners, the $75,000 (estimated purse) Evangeline Down's Sales Stakes has been added to the racing calendar on Aug. 2. "We wanted to make a commitment to the owners and breeders in this area, and those who have supported us over the years, that we believe racing and breeding in Louisiana is an investment worth making. Our expectations are that this will become an important event on the sales calendar."

Additionally, the Carencro, La. native and owner of Traders' Rest Farm and holds an annual sale, in January, and currently has 135 stalls at his facility. Workouts will be held on March 15 beginning at noon. That evening a gala will be held in the newly renovated Evangeline Downs clubhouse beginning at 7:30 p.m. The sale itself will be conducted the following day beginning at 1:00 p.m.
