Churchill Downs has been awarded has been honored by Greater Louisville Inc with a Silver Fleur-De-Lis Award. The award is presented annually by the Metro Chamber of Commerce to area companies and individuals that have made significant contributions to the community during the previous year. The home of the Kentucky Derby was honored for its $121 million "Master Plan" construction project, which will completely rebuild and renovate portions the track's clubhouse and grandstand areas, including the more than century-old Jockey Club ...Michael Knapp, the general manager of the off-track betting facility, the Surfside Place at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, was elected chairman of the board, for the California Authority of Racing Fairs. Knapp also serves as an operations, marketing, and customer development consultant for the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. The California Authority of Racing Fairs represents 23 member Fairgrounds that conduct off-track horse-wagering operations and nine annual live horse race meetings.
