The New York Racing Association will begin sharing photographs from its extensive archived collection on Facebook  beginning Thursday, March 24.

Historical photos will be posted periodically – usually once weekly – on NYRA’s facebook page.

The first photo in the series depicts the 1982 rebuilding of Aqueduct’s inner track. In the attached historical photo from July 1982, a workman stands atop a mound of material bound for the one-mile inner track, which was rebuilt using 13,000 tons of sand, 6,000 tons of dirt, and 30,000 tons of limestone screening. The clubhouse and grandstand are visible in the background.
