Buoyed by a 22% gain in off-sitse wagering on its signal, Tampa Bay Downs will raise overnight purses by 6% effective Jan. 30, track general manager Peter Berube said.

"The increase reflects the overall popularity of our signal," Berube said. "Fans across the country enjoy our large fields, turf racing, and the overall quality of our racing product."

Handle on Tampa Bay's signal is averaging $2.2 million per day to date versus $1.8 million per day over the same period last year. The increase will boost overnight purses by $5,000 a day to $100,500 (including Florida Owner Awards), up from $95,000 per day.
