Vin Cox has been appointed managing director of Magic Millions, it was announced April 11 by the major Australia auction firm.
“We look forward to growing the business together and raising the profile of the Australian bloodstock industry locally and internationally,” said Magic Millions chairman Gerry Harvey.
Cox has more than 20 years of experience in the Thoroughbred sales industry. He joined William Inglis & Son in 1988 and remained there until he resigned to form his own bloodstock advisory company, Vin Cox Bloodstock, in 2002.
At the time he left Inglis, Cox had risen to the position of associate director. He has been the Australasian representative for Keeneland since 2003 and is credited with helping to bridge the gap between the Australian and American breeding industries. Cox will continue to work for Keeneland.
"He's the perfect choice (for the Magic Millions post)," said Geoffrey Russell, Keeneland's director of sales. "He's young, professional, and organized. He's got a great prersonality and he knows everybody."
Cox will assume his new role in time for the 2011 Magic Millions national sales, which are scheduled for May 25 through June 8.
“I am most excited and honored to have been selected for this role with Magic Millions, which has become one of the leading Thoroughbred sales organizations in the world, renowned for innovation and growth,” Cox said. “It is tremendous to have the opportunity to work with Gerry Harvey, Katie Page-Harvey, and the Magic Millions team.”
