Shuttler Anabaa Misses Southern Season Shuttle stallion Anabaa has been withdrawn from stallion service at Australia's Widden Stud several days after his first-crop European filly Amonita won the Oct. 1 Prix Marcel Boussac (Fr-I) on the Arc weekend in Paris, France.Eight-year-old Anabaa (Danzig--Balbonella, by Gay Mecene) suffered a minor abrasive injury to his penis during his most recent season at Haras du Quesnay in France and, when it flared again, veterinary advice was that his season be halted. Widden co-managers Antony Thompson and Derek Field complied immediately.So, after covering very few mares, around a half-dozen of a scheduled 70 --the latter figure the agreed limit--at his fourth Australian season, Anabaa will rest at Widden, and be returned with the other European shuttlers late in December.Amonita is one of 14 individual winners he has racing in Europe, and his first runner in Australia was also a winner--Donna Natalia, in the Gimcrack (Aust-I). |
