Mass Cap Date Changed

The date of the 64th running of the $500,000 Massachusetts Handicap (gr. II) has been moved to June 14. The race, originally scheduled for May 31, will be shown live as part of the CBS NTRA Summer Racing Tour.

"Due to the placement of the Pimlico Special (on May 16), we think that moving the date of the Mass Cap is in our best interest," said Suffolk Downs director of racing John Morrissey.

Recent Mass Cap winners include Horses of the Year Cigar (1995 and 96) and Skip Away (1997 and 98), as well as Behrens (1999), Running Stag (2000), Include (2001) and Macho Uno (2002).
