Florida Thoroughbred Charities Auction Successful

Florida Thoroughbred Charities raised more than $240,000 from its annual Live and Silent Auctions and its Stallion Seasons Auction on Jan. 12-13.

Following he opening session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's January sale, the Stallion Seasons Live Auction raised $183,700. The Black Tie and Blue Jeans Silent and Live Auctions on Jan. 12 at George Steinbrenner's Ramada Yankee raised $57,175.

Bringing the Live Auction's highest bid of $10,000 was a special three-day package to the Indianapolis 500 Race Weekend. A NASCAR Brick Yard 400 weekend package brought a final bid of $5,200. Both packages were donated by Mari Hulman George, board chairperson of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation.

Four 2003 World Series tickets to the American League home games, donated by George Steinbrenner, owner of the New York Yankees, brought a final bid of $5,000.
