Island Love Song, a filly by Dehere was purchased by agent John Moynihan for $220,000 to bring the top price during the early portion of the July 12 Fasig-Tipton July yearling sale in Lexington.
Moynihan said the filly was bought on behalf of Barbara Banke, the widow of the late Jess Jackson who operated Stonestreet Stables.
Consigned as Hip No. 27 by Dapple Stud, agent for Twin Hopes Farm and Helen T. Andrews, the filly was produced from the unraced mare Marialua, by Maria's Mon, a half sister to grade III-placed Honolulu Storm.
“She has as good a body and top line as any filly in the sale,” said Dapple’s Mike Akers prior to the sale. “She’s by a proven sire that has international appeal. She has a deep family that goes back to (Triple Crown winner and two-time Horse of the Year) Affirmed.”
