Millionaire Tout Charmant, who was returned to training this year after coming up barren to Storm Cat, has been retired. Owned by Robert and Janice McNair's Stonerside Stable, Tout Charmant won the Dec. 21 Dahlia Handicap (gr. IIT) at Hollywood Park in a deadheart in her final start and again is booked to Storm Cat."There's nothing better than going out a winner," said Stonerside racing manager John Adger. "Ron (trainer McAnally) and his staff did an incredible job with her. She's one of the soundest horses Stonerside ever had. She'll be seven and is worth more in foal to Storm Cat than she would be as a racemare."Tout Charmant (Slewvescent -- Charm a Gendarme, by Batonnier) closed out her career with nine wins from 29 starts and $1,781,879 in earnings. She was bred by the Robert H. Walter Trust, and raced her first two years for the trust before Stonerside acquired her. Her seven stakes wins include grade I turf scores in the 1999 Del Mar Oaks and Matriarch Stakes.Adger also announced that 5-year-old Nepenthe will join the broodmare ranks at Stonerside near Paris, Ky. The Broad Brush mare is scheduled to run in the Dec. 28 La Prevoyante Handicap (gr. IIT) at Calder Race Course. She is booked to Coronado's Quest.
