Florida Stallion Tactical Advantage Euthanized

Florida stallion Tactical Advantage, whose runners have earned $2.5 million this year, was euthanized Dec. 26 because of neurological problems. The 12-year-old syndicated son of Forty Niner was sent immediately to the University of Florida Large Animal Clinic instead of to A. Douglas Henderson's Marablue Farm near Reddick, Fla., following his arrival from Argentina Nov. 21.

Tactical Advantage entered stud at Marablue in 1995 and was the state's second-leading sire of 2-year-olds by progeny earnings in 1998. He has sired 10 stakes winners, including graded winners Forty One Carats, Prime Directive, and Crowned Dancer. Forty One Carats, who earned $828,843, won the 1999 Pegasus Handicap (gr. II) in track-record time at Meadowlands, and Prime Directive captured the 1998 Saratoga Special Stakes (gr. II) as a 2-year-old. Crowned Dancer took this year's Hollywood Juvenile Championship Stakes (gr. III).

Tactical Advantage, who was produced from the Roberto mare Twitchet, was bred by Hidaway Farm and raced for Phil Teinowitz. Trained by Scotty Schulhofer, he captured the Saratoga Special in one of his three wins from 17 starts. He earned $174,630.

Tactical Advantage, who stood two seasons in Argentina, is represented by the earners of $10.4 million.
