Critical Eye reached millionaire status in closing out her career with a victory in the Dec. 21 Ladies Handicap (gr. III) at Aqueduct. Her $64,440 payday for owners Herbert and Carol Schwartz upped her earnings to $1,060,984. She is scheduled to be sent to Taylor Made Farm near Nicholasville, Ky. Breeding plans have not been decided.
Bred in New York by Herbert Schwartz and trained by the couple's son, Scott, 5-year-old Critical Eye (Dynaformer -- Critical Crew, by Dr. Blum) won 14 of 38 races. Her other stakes wins came in the Hempstead (gr. I), Gazelle (gr. I), Sheepshead Bay (gr. II), and Honey Bee (gr. III) Handicaps. The first of five foals from her dam, she was voted New York-bred champion 3-year-old filly of 2000 and top older mare the following season.
