Multiple-stakes winning sprinter Echo Eddie heads a field of five in Sunday's $70,000-added Dayjur Handicap, closing day feature of Hollywood Park's 35-day Autumn Meet.

For the second time in its nine-year existence, the 5 1/2-furlong event will be contested on the main track instead of turf due to recent rains.

At the age of 3, Echo Eddie finished third in 2000 when Texas Glitter set the stakes record of 1:01 1/5 on turf. The 5-year-old gelding, who last year captured the Sensational Star and Valiant Pete handicaps at Santa Anita, will carry high weight of 119 pounds on Sunday while breaking from the rail with Patrick Valenzuela aboard.

It will be the first start in five months for Echo Eddie, sidelined with a hoof ailment since July 13 when finishing second to 2002 Breeders' Cup Sprint champion Orientate in the Smile Stakes at Calder Race Course.

According to trainer Darrell Vienna, Echo Eddie subsequently was put up for sale at the David Milch dispersal at Keeneland in November, but was bought back for $225,000.

Echo Eddie's competition includes Rocky Bar, who finished second to Texas Glitter in the Nov. 29 Hollywood Turf Express after leading for much of the 5 1/2 furlongs.
