Management Named for Merged Hawthorne-National Jockey Club Operations

On January 2, 2003, Hawthorne Race Course and National Jockey Club will combine forces on the racing scene as the newly formed Hawthorne National LLC will move into place.

Joining Thomas F. Carey III, Hawthorne National president and general manager, will be vice presidents Charles Bidwell III, Thomas F. Carey, and manager Patricia Bidwell. Andrew Hodorowicz will move to the position of assistant to president Thomas F. Carey III while Jeff Kras will become Hawthorne National's chief financial officer.

Twelve additional positions were named for Hawthorne National: Lorene Heninger (director of Simulcasting), Dennis Taylor (director of security), Howie Fagan (director of marketing), Jim Miller (director of media relations), Michael Hart (director of mutuels), Pam Dorr (director of sales), Tim Becker (director of the backstretch), Gary Duch (racing secretary), Greg Cardenas (track superintendent), Mike Harris (director of programs and admissions), John Howe (director of parking), and Peter Galassi (track announcer).

Additionally, Al Jozwiak will assist Greg Cardenas as a consultant for track maintenance.

In 2003, live thoroughbred racing will take place at Hawthorne on January 1, March 1-May 8 and then again from September 28-December 31. Harness racing returns on May 13 and will race through June 30.
