Ten Take Aim at $500,000 Delta Jackpot

K.K. & Vilasini Jayaraman's Comic Truth, winner of the Lafayette Stakes at Evangeline Downs, heads a field of 10 2-year-old colts entered Wednesday for Delta Downs' $500,000 Delta Jackpot Stakes at a mile Saturday.

The Ken McPeek-trained son of Proudest Romeo, who also captured the $40,000 Pioneer Stakes at Louisiana Downs this year, was assigned co-high weight of 116 pounds for the inaugural Jackpot. Jamie Theriot has the mount.

Stakes-winning Cherokee's Boy, with red-hot apprentice rider Ryan Fogelsonger in the irons, was also assigned 116 pounds. Cherokee's Boy will start from the rail.

Also in the field is Outta Here, third in the Generous Stakes (gr. III) on the Hollywood Park turf Nov. 30 and also third in the Best Pal (gr. III) at Del Mar. He'll be ridden by Kent Desormeaux for trainer and co-owner Bill Currin.
