Louisiana Champions Day Set at Fair Grounds

Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans presents Louisiana Champions Day Saturday, a series of 10 races worth a total of $1 million for horses bred in Louisiana.

Seven of the races are for Thoroughbreds, headed by the $150,000 Classic, which drew a field of six. The co-highweights at 120 pounds are 6-year-old gelding Oak Hall, the defending champion ridden by Kerwin Clark, and 3-year-old colt Walk in the Snow, with Kirk LeBlanc in the saddle.

Winner of four of seven starts in 2002, Oak Hall was second to Walk in the Snow in the Louisiana Premier Day Championship Stakes at Delta Downs on Nov. 16.

Walk in the Snow was second to Essence of Dubai in the Super Derby (gr. III) at Louisiana Downs in September.
