Beginning Friday, Pick 4 and Pick 6 wagering will return to Hawthorne racetrack near Chicago, Ill. Both wagers were halted on November 9th by the Illinois Racing Board as a result of the Breeders' Cup Pick 6 scandal.

This decision to reinstate the wagers resulted since Autotote and AmTote have each taken measures to provide better security for each wager. Currently, these security measures have been installed in Illinois, Ohio, Maryland and New York, allowing each to wager on Hawthorne's Pick 4 and Pick 6.

As additional racing jurisdictions install security measures, they will be allowed to wager on these options as well. Additionally, those in Illinois can now bet into all Pick wagers in Ohio, Maryland and New York.

With the reinstitution on the Pick 6 on Friday, the carryover of just over $11,000 will return as well.

Hawthorne Race Course continues thoroughbred racing through January 1, 2003. First post daily is 1:10 PM.
