Jostle took the lead on the far turn and galloped to a 4 1/2-length victory Saturday in the $200,000 Cotillion Handicap (gr. II) at Philadelphia Park. Ridden by Mike Smith, Jostle lagged behind the pace for much of the 1 1/16 miles before making her move on the far turn, proving herself the best in the field of seven 3-year-olds fillies.
Jostle, the winner of the Alabama Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga and the Coaching Club American Oaks (gr. I) at Belmont in her most recent starts, was timed in 1:42.54 and paid $2.20, $2.40, and $2.10. Gold For My Gal tried to mount a challenge but came in second and paid $7.80 and $2.10. Prized Stamp weakened after a strong start and finished third, two lengths behind Gold For My Gal. She paid $2.10 to show. Lorie Darlin came home fourth, followed by Crown of Crimson, Chickasaw, and Rochelle's Terms.
The win earned owner Fox Hill Farms $120,000 and will likely earn Jostle a ticket to the Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) at Churchill Downs next month. Jostle (Brocco--Moon Drone, by Drone) improved her career record to eight wins from 13 career starts. She was bred in Kentucky by Prestonwood Farm and is trained by John Servis. (Chart,
