Domedriver, winning the Breeders' Cup Mile.
Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) winner Domedriver was scratched from Sunday's Hong Kong Mile (HK-I) at Sha Tin after veterinarians discovered he was lame in his right hind leg. Trainer Pascal Barry said the lameness was due to an abcess in his right hind leg.
Jeune King Prawn will replace Domedriver in the Mile. Jeune King Prawn's finest hour arrived in last season's HKGr.1 Champions Mile (HK-I) when he defeated Red Pepper by a short head. He also won the Sha Tin Futurity Trophy (HK-III) over the same trip in June 2001.
Trained by Ivan Allan, Jeune King Prawn has raced just once this season, winning the Oct. 1 National Day Cup by half a length over Smart Winner.
In other Hong Kong Cup News, Ulundi, who was scheduled to run in the Hong Kong Cup (HK-I), arrived in Hong Kong suffering from a high temperature and had a nasal discharge which the Veterinary Surgeon said indicated a degree of travel sickness. Ulundi has been treated for these conditions and is improving.
