Frankel Edges Closer to Earnings Mark

Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel moved to within $408,470 of D. Wayne Lukas' 1988 earnings record of $17,842,358 with a pair of winners on Sunday's card at Hollywood Park.

"To be the No. 1 record-holder in money-won, even if it only lasts a year, sure it's a thrill," Frankel said. "It's like winning an Eclipse Award, even bigger than that because I don't know when it'll be broken. I know it's going to be broken, but to do it is exciting. I've got a little chance, but it's going to be difficult."

Frankel's wins came with Harrisand in the fourth race and Sea of Showers in the seventh race.
