Due to an error originating with the United Tote totalisator system located in Kentucky, customers that wagered through the New York Racing Association on Keeneland’s April 6 card and the first two races April 7, were charged incorrect takeout rates.
United Tote has accepted full responsibility for the error and has acknowledged this in correspondence to the New York State Racing and Wagering Board and the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission.
As a result, the prices paid through NYRA for the 10 Keeneland races April 6 and the first two races April 7 were incorrect. The win, place, and show wagering takeout rates were 1.5% higher than they should have been, the exotics takeout rates were 3% higher than they should have been, and the Pick 4 takeout was 5% lower than it should have been. The total underpayment on winning tickets was approximately $10,000.
United Tote is going to determine the variance between Keeneland’s correct prices and the incorrect prices that were paid at NYRA, and NYRA will adjust relevant NYRA Rewards accounts, previously cashed tickets involving W2-G’s, and currently outstanding winning tickets that are presented for payment. NYRA said it expects this adjustment to be accomplished on or before April 30.
