Rose of Zollern scored a 2 1/4-length front-running victory in Belmont Park's Friday feature race, a $55,000 allowance sprint for fillies and mares. It was the third consecutive win on the day for jockey Jerry Bailey.
Forever Cindy, blocked along the rail while seeking running room, got clear in deep stretch and finished fast to be second of six. North Coast Ltd. was third. Rose of Zollern carried 116 pounds over seven furlongs in 1:24.22 on a fast track to earn $33,000 for Gary A. Tanaka. It was the third win in six starts this year for the Irish-bred 4-year-old filly.
The winner returned $4.10, $2.80, and $2.50. Forever Cindy paid $5.40 and $4.10, and North Coast Ltd. was worth $5.10.
Previously, Bailey won the sixth race aboard Joseph D. Kowal's Nature's Pick, and the seventh on Kinsman Stable's Dream Wish, a 2-year-old filly by Kingmambo. The all-Bailey pick three paid $29.20. (Chart, Equibase
