Autotote, which recently had a former employee plead guilty to fraud, will immediately begin installation of a new tracking device that can independently monitor wagering transactions and detect possible fraudulent activity.

The system is dubbed the Integrity Independent Monitoring System and was developed by e-Success Inc., an auditing and fraud detection company that provides products to the gaming industry.

The system, which is also used by a variety of state lotteries, can independently check the validity of each wagering transaction in real-time, compile pool totals, and confirm winning tickets. It also provides tools for detecting and analyzing any fraudulent activity, according to a press release issued by e-Success.

"The Integrity technology will provide our customers with the highest levels of assurance in the integrity of their betting operations," said Brooks Pierce, president of Autotote.

Chris Harn, a former software engineer for Autotote, recently admitted in federal court to using his security access to the Autotote system to fraudulently produce wining pari-mutuel tickets worth millions of dollars.

Systems will be delivered to regulators and to each respective racing association for installation immediately. The first ones should be installed by the end of December.
