Friendly Lover will relocate to Adena Springs Kentucky for the 2001 breeding season the farm announced Friday. Friendly Lover stood at Adena Springs South, near Ocala, Fla., for a fee of $3,000 in 2000 and will stand for $10,000 next year.
"We're very pleased to be able to relocate Friendly Lover to Kentucky," owner Andy Stronach said. "He was well supported in the breeding community in Ocala over the past three years. But breeders in Kentucky have expressed such an interest in him, that we feel the vast pool of top mares here can only complement him even more."
Through the end of September, Friendly Lover ranks second among first-crop sires for North American progeny earnings. His chief earner through September is San Mont Andreas with earnings of $201, 490. His total progeny earnings are $562,424 from 24 runners.
Friendly Lover (Cutlass--Glide Along, by Great Above) won 22 races from 66 career starts and earned $1,247,670. The New Jersey-bred won the 1995 Boojum Handicap (gr. II) and the 1994 True North Handicap (gr. II).
