The work at Churchill Downs’ Trackside Training Center, where trainer Mike Maker is based, was the second since the 2011 champion 2-year-old male finished ninth in the May 5 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).
“It went well. We weren’t looking to do too much,” Maker said of the work, in which Hansen was ridden by regular exercise rider Joel Barrientos.
Maker said the son of Tapit will work again at Trackside June 2.
“We’re going to keep him here (rather than ship to Belmont early),” Maker said. “He’ll work again next , and hopefully it will be a little cooler then.”
Hansen has won four of seven starts and earned $1,623,305.
