For the third consecutive year, Brittlyn Stable homebred Star Guitar has been honored as Louisiana Horse of the Year.

The now-7-year-old son of Quiet American--Init Towinit was successful in all six of his 2011 outings while earning $449,904. Including two wins from as many starts in 2012, Star Guitar has compiled a record of 23-0-2 from 29 starts, with 21 stakes victories, and has earned $1,689,862 for trainer Al Stall Jr.

Star Guitar and other Louisiana champions from 2011 were honored June 9 during the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association’s annual meeting at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, La.

Leading breeder honors went to Foxwood Plantation and the state’s leading stallion for 2011 was Leestown, a son of Seattle Slew who died in late 2008 at Red River Farms. X Strawdnair, Brittlyn Stable’s daughter of Malagra whose four stakes winners from six horses to race include 2011 Louisiana-bred champion 2-year-old male Beanwah'smachine, was named broodmare of the year.
