David F. Bailey has been named the year-round director of racing and racing secretary at Gulfstream Park after holding the positions on a seasonal basis since last year. Bailey resigned as racing secretary at Arlington Park earlier this week.
"We were pleased to learn that Bailey no longer had a commitment at Arlington that would prevent him from expanding his role at Gulfstream," said Gulfstream president Scott Savin said. "Our new Palm Meadows training center eventually will afford Bailey the opportunity to utilize 1,400 additional thoroughbreds in Gulfstream's racing presentations. Bailey now will be able to devote all of his time and effort to Gulfstream and his excellent relations with horsemen nationally will enable him to generate a higher caliber of racing for our customers."
Bailey has worked as a racing official for Arlington Park, the New York Racing Association, Keeneland, Meadowlands, Atlantic City Race Course, Rockingham Park and Hialeah. Prior to his present position, Bailey served as Gulfstream's assistant director of racing. He has been with Gulfstream since 1979.
