Kentucky Cup Classic winner Pure Prize to stand at Vinery.
Grade II winner Pure Prize, by Storm Cat out of champion Heavenly Prize (by Seeking the Gold), has been retired and will enter stud at Tom Simon's Vinery near Lexington. He is being partially syndicated and will stand for $7,500 live foal.
"A pedigree like this, and the fact that he's a graded stakes winner, makes Pure Prize an incredibly attractive stallion prospect," said Bates Newton of Vinery.
Bred by Phipps Stable, 4-year-old Pure Prize captured this year's Kentucky Cup Classic Handicap (gr. II) and ran second in the Fourstardave Handicap (gr. III) at Saratoga, He initially raced for the late Ogden Phillips and later for Phipps' son, Ogden Mills Phipps, in partnership. He retires with five wins from 17 starts and earnings of $475,459.
