Bailey, Frankel Continue on Record Quests

Jockey Jerry Bailey and trainer Bobby Frankel are within range of setting single-season records for their respective divisions.
Through racing of Sunday, Nov. 17, Bailey needs $402,532 in purses to eclipse his own record of $22,597,720 set last year, according to unaudited figures compiled by Equibase Company. Edgar Prado is second in this year's standings, with $17,329,343, followed by John Velazquez's $15,389,313.
With 2002 stable earnings of $16,518,784, Frankel is $1,323,574 shy of D. Wayne Lukas' record $17,842,358, set in 1988. Frankel is followed by Bob Baffert's $11,117,290 for this year.
