The latest issue of Web-based Failure Magazine features an article on Zippy Chippy, the 9-year-old gelding winless from 88 starts.
The article profiles Zippy Chippy while pointing out that he is not the losingest Thoroughbred. Winless English-bred Quixall Crossett, a 15-year-old gelding, lost his first 97 career races -- all over hurdles -- in England. Quixall Crossett last raced in September of 1999, finishing seventh, 100 lengths behind the winner, in a 3 1/8-mile race.
In the article, Zippy's trainer Felix Monserrate tells Failure, "Even if he doesn't win, he can still live here with us. He doesn't have to worry about going to the meat market."
The issue also features the Chevrolet Corvair. (More,
