John Poe Wins Amateur Rider Race at Laurel

In the annual Amateur Riders of America race Saturday at Laurel Park, John Poe, an exercise rider for Ben Feliciano, Jr., guided Flirting to a one-length victory over Cynics Quest for trainer Jimmy Murphy.
Flirting, the 6-5 favorite, paid $ 4.20 and covered the 1 1/16-mile maiden race in 1:48.35.
Now in its the 15th year, the Amateur Riders Club of America Series is the brainchild of Daily Racing Form art director Pierre (Peb) Bellocq, allowing amateur jockeys a chance to ride in actual races at some of the world's top tracks.
On Friday's Laurel Park card, Danielle Hodson guided Nothing But to victory in the ARCA Women's Race.
