In Arizona, a proposition to allow slot machines at racetracks was soundly defeated by a 4-1 margin. Proposition 201, the "Coalition for Arizona," was defeated 774,315 to 194,942. It was one of three gaming propositions on the Arizona general ballot.

Proposition 200, which would have allowed for a wider range of table games at Native American casinos, was defeated by a 85-15% margin. Proposition 202, backed by Arizonans for Fair Gaming and Indian Self-Reliance, held a 51-49% lead, but there are still more than 150,000 absentee ballots to be counted. The provisions in Prop 202 did not allow for slots at racetracks.
