'BCin3D' unveiled at L.A. Live

The Breeders' Cup, joined by Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa, California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) Chairman Keith Brackpool, Breeders' Cup Ambassador Bo Derek and Hall of Fame jockeys Laffit Pincay Jr. and Gary Stevens, on Thursday unveiled "BCin3D" at a press conference at L.A. LIVE welcoming the Breeders' Cup back to Southern California.

"BCin3D" is an interactive, 3D art installation that will be on display at L.A. LIVE through November 1, when it will be moved to Santa Anita Park for the World Championships, November 2-3.

The Breeders' Cup commissioned world-renowned artist, and inventor of 3D street art, Kurt Wenner, to create the painting that depicts a scene from Santa Anita Park. The artwork lays flat at 32 feet long by 16 feet wide, with an accompanying 10-foot high wall along the length of the painting. "BCin3D" has two markings within the painting for people to "step into."

Beginning Thursday, "BCin3D" will be staffed with Breeders' Cup brand ambassadors, encouraging fans to take and socially share photos in the painting. Photos will be on display in an album on the Breeders' Cup Facebook page.

"It gives me great pleasure to welcome the Breeders' Cup -- Thoroughbred racing's most prestigious global event -- back to Los Angeles," Villaraigosa said. "The Breeders' Cup will provide a big boost to our local economy, supporting local jobs and producing tax revenue that helps us provide the neighborhood services that people depend on."

"We are excited and grateful to the city of Los Angeles and our partners at Santa Anita Park for providing a world-class entertainment and hospitality site for the Breeders' Cup World Championships," said Bob Elliston, chief operating officer for Breeders' Cup. "The Breeders' Cup has always been embraced by the people of Southern California and it's something we look forward to sharing with our guests from all around the globe."

The Breeders' Cup consists of 15 races with purses and awards totaling more than $25 million.
